What is my role at Revival?

I’m one of the directors here at Revival. I’m our director of both Finance and Digital Transformation (which is a fancy way of saying that I make all the powerpoints and pay everyone)

How did I join Revival?

After finishing my master's degree in 2016 I moved back home and started working in financial technology. And I hated it. So when my mum said that she needed help with the family business both myself and my brother came on board. Since then I’ve been able to change the way we do things at Revival.

What is your favourite thing about working at Revival?

Sometimes it can hard working with family. But the reason I joined Revival was to help my mum. We’ve all seen our parents work until 3am, the difference is now I know exactly what my mum was doing all those times. And I now knoe the exact ways I can both help her and make her life easier. It’s been really rewarding being able to watch the changes I implement make the lives of the rest of the family in the business easier. (Mum still goes to sleep at 3am though).

What Is My Role In The Academy?

I am the founder and Lead Tutor at Revival Academy. What I do at Revival however goes further than simply my role and responsibilities. Since my boys came on board with the business they have enabled me to really look into the future of the industry and focus on what I'm passionate about. Developing new courses, skincare products, expanding the business and developing both my staff and my students. I’ve always been at the forefront of the industry. Whether it was having one of the first laser machines in the country or being one of the first therapist-led academies for aesthetics over 10 years ago.

How Did You Start In The Industry And Why?

Whilst pregnant with my first child, I took a career break from my sales job and started training in beauty in 1993, so that I could combine motherhood with a job.

At that stage, my only aspiration was to be a good mum and go out and earn what my husband called pocket money.

The so-called pocket money I went out to earn with an initial investment of £500 enabled my husband to retire at the age of 50 almost 17 years ago, and led to me opening 3 beauty salons in a 7 year period, followed by a training academy.

Revival is at a stage where we are about to take off, thanks to Alex and Lloyd's input and skills.

Amazing how well it worked out for us as a family, the boys joined the business to look after me and I started the business to look after them.

Why Do You Like Teaching?

I love that I can bring my spiritual, beauty, aesthetic and business knowledge into my classes, and put to use the many skills that I have acquired over nearly 3 decades. I realised early on in my career that my style of delivering treatments was unique and this generated bookings and a very loyal client base. This inspired me to set up 3 spas with confidence that I was doing the right thing. After all of this experience, as a teacher I can offer an all-round teaching experience to my students. I believe that a good teacher can teach any student and I can confidently put my hand up and say that I can.

There's nothing more important to me than empowering and teaching the students to be the best version of themselves. Ultimately I want my students to develop into great therapists. Teaching gives me great satisfaction and a feel-good factor that you can't put a price on.

Over the years I have been blessed to be in the position that I'm in. Teaching so many students and sharing my knowledge has been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done. To show people how they can live up to their potential really is my calling.

What Are Your Favourite Treatments?

Any treatment that has a needle attached to it and gives instant visible results. Transforming the way my clients look is my biggest passion and at this stage in my career the more challenging the transformation the better.

My favourite is the contour package. Here I can make my clients look more than 10 years younger, using a combination of botox, fillers, TCA Peel and Skin Boosters.

What Is Your Favourite Course To Teach?

Without a doubt the Dermal Fillers course and the Contour Package just because the results are so immediate. To show someone that such a difference is possible is such a wonderful feeling.

What Is My Role In The Academy?

My role at Revival is Head of Education, I am in charge of teaching the Laser Hair Removal Course and also Level 5 Diploma in Aesthetics.

How Long Have You Been In The Industry?

I have been in the industry for 15 years (it feels like a very long time)

Why Do You Like Teaching?

I find teaching to be very rewarding. I especially love teaching people who are either very new into the industry or who are under confident in their abilities. Giving them confidence that I never had when i first started is something thats very special to me. I love taking students from the beginning of their journey with us, where they are nervous and lack confidence and and by the end of the course seeing how they now believe in themselves and being the best therapists out in the industry. Its so rewarding to see students come out of their shell as their confidence grows is so special to me. I love sharing my skills giving my knowledge to my students.

What Is Your Favourite Course To Teach?

Level 5 Diploma in Aesthetics, as I love performing those treatments myself and its the foundation that the students need to start at before they progress further. Years ago when I first started teaching I was really nervous about the idea of teaching this course. I hand done much work with needles at the time and felt like it was never my strong point. I suppose just never had confidence to think I could teach it and now its my favourite course to teach. I LOVE IT!!

What Are Your Favourite Treatments?

I dont have one specific treatment that I love, but if I had to narrow it down to two it would definitely be Microneedling and Mesotherapy. They are use different types of injection techniques and I love seeing the results that the clients have with improving their skin i.e. skin texture, skin complexion and pigmentation. I’m also loving the results from the TCA Peels. It’s great knowing that clients are walking away happy.

What is my role in the academy?

Aesthetic Trainer

How long have you been in the industry?

Quite new to the industry overall, although I have always been very interested and keen on aesthetics

Why do you like teaching?

Teaching is one of the most demanding and challenging jobs there is, as it requires an immense amount of patience and perseverance, however it is also the most rewarding one. Teaching for me is about giving, transforming people’s lives and also influencing them in a positive way with guidance and support. It allows me to establish connections with people that last forever. It is truly incredible being part of the student's journey and helping them every step of the way. With that being said, teaching is not just a job, it’s a way of life.

What are your favourite treatments?

I love facials, but they just simply can’t compare with injectables. My favourite treatments are botox and fillers. Injecting is just pure excitement!

What is your favourite course to teach?

Although injectables are my main interest, my favourite course to teach is the Level 5 Diploma in Aesthetics as it is taught across 3 weeks and it really gives me the chance to see the progression and changes of the students throughout the course. From day one, students coming in completely new to the industry, to flourishing and realising their own potential by the end of the course, ready to take up any challenge that the world has for them. It is genuinely inspiring.

How Long Have You Been In The Industry?

Just over 2 years now.

Why Do You Like Teaching?

Since I was a child, teaching was something I always wanted to do. Every time I’ve had the opportunity to teach in my life I have always felt an enthusiastic sense of satisfaction. Teaching means sharing, and exchanging knowledge and skills. It is remarkable to see how a student can blossom and gain confidence and clarity at the end of a course. It is an amazing feeling to witness a student's achievements.  In particular, I enjoy teaching skin boosters as there is so much information I can pass over on how to enhance beauty. I believe that everyone can learn if the passion is there and the right communication channel is established.

What Are Your Favourite Treatments?

I love PRP and Advanced Skin Boosters. I enjoy these types of treatments the most because I have witnessed incredible improvements in clients' skin. I will keep on studying and learning about any skin booster that can improve skin texture and counteract the ageing process, and I will be so happy to share all my discoveries with our students.

What Is Your Favourite Course To Teach?

I really enjoy teaching Skin Boosters. The purpose of a skin booster is to improve the face skin, neck and decolletage giving a healthy appearance to the skin but also rejuvenating its appearance. The technology associated with this type of treatment is currently undergoing a great evolution and every day there is a new discovery to be made. I have always enjoyed studying and encountering new treatments. A skin booster has healing properties giving a natural look to the face. Combined with other treatments it can certainly make a huge difference. Treatments with fillers can be effective in terms of placing the volume in the right places, but only a skin booster can actually enhance the beauty of a face.

What Is My Role In The Academy?

I am the social media wizard at Revival. Most of the stuff you’ve seen on Instagram and TikTok, I’ve filmed, edited and posted. I am usually the person who replies to the DM’s and comments. Also known for sneezing on everyone at work… Rocco had the best reaction by far!

What's My Story of How I Joined Revival?

My friend actually happened to do some courses at Revival and saw they were advertising a social media role, she just knew I would love the work environment, the team, and the rest is history! Since joining I have learnt so much and gained so much more knowledge, Daksha even put me through the Level 5 Diploma in Aesthetics course which I really actually enjoyed and has helped me in my role.

What's Your Favourite Thing About Working At Revival?

My favourite thing about working at Revival is the team, I never thought I would have a job which doesn’t actually feel like work. Since joining, the girls and I have bonded so much. We all feel like Daksha’s daughters.
